Pride, Eggplants, and a Case for Spreading the Word

By Lisa Lujan, Online Giving Coordinator I’m not going to lie, I’m proud. I’m proud to be a part of the ColoradoGives program at Community First Foundation because I love helping other people. I’m always a little thrown back when people ask where I work, then look at me like I have eggplants growing out of my ears when I enthusiastically reply, “I’m part of the ColoradoGives program at Community First Foundation!”  Even though I’m thrown back, it’s okay. It’s okay because it’s a great opportunity to tell them what I do, how important our nonprofits are to the community, and why we should support them. We know that for many of you, this season – especially Colorado Gives Day on December 6 – is one of the most important fundraising periods of the year. That’s why I’m encouraging you to share the ways people can get involved with ColoradoGives.org on Colorado Gives Day. Shout it from the rooftops! Tell friends and family to do the same. If we all tell one new pers...

Why This Couple Said "No" to Wedding Presents

By Angela Bevacqua, Senior Communications Specialist, Community First Foundation As Mike and Amy planned their wedding, they already felt so blessed! Beyond the intangibles of love, family and friends, they each had fully equipped homes at their stage in life. A gift registry and wedding presents just didn’t feel right. But more than that, he knows about the charitable tools the Foundation offers. Charitable Funds Mike and Amy a...

Three New Enhancements Make ColoradoGives.org Even Better

By Angela Bevacqua, Senior Communications Specialist Nonprofits featured on ColoradoGives.org are working diligently to prepare for Colorado Gives Day , coming up on Tuesday, December 9! As you prepare, keep in mind the following new website enhancements. Many of these improvements came directly from avid users of ColoradoGives.org . Suggest Donation Amounts on Your Checkout Page. You can now insert one or more recommended donation amounts with a description that will appear on the checkout page associated with your nonprofit. Log in to ColoradoGives.org as a nonprofit, go to the General Information section, select the Donation Form tab, and click add entry under the header Donation Levels. Create New Options to Direct Donations. Until recently, nonprofits were allowed limited options for directing donations through ColoradoGives.org . Examples included “Nonprofit’s Discretion” and program names. Now you can offer donors additional options, such as special projects or ca...

Fundraising Pages: A Tool for Success

By Lisa Lujan, Online Giving Coordinator, Community First Foundation Did you know that you can maximize your success on Colorado Gives Day or any day with our ColoradoGives Fundraising Pages campaign tool? Fundraising Pages can be used by your supporters to raise money for your organization by creating their own fundraising page and sending it out to their network. Take, for example, Beka Wilson who recently shared her organization’s ( Conservation Colorado ) success on Colorado Gives Day in our most recent webinar,  Maximizing Success with Fundraising Pages . Of the many tips Beka shared, here are some of the highlights: Make it easy for your supporters to fundraise for your organization by creating templates for them to use (such as letters, emails and posts for social media) to promote their page. Ask a volunteer or intern to create Fundraising Pages for board or staff members who would like to support your organization but may not have the time to cre...
